   A book B_k of k pages is k triangles sharing a common edge. In 1995, Erdős Faudree and Győri proved theorems for some values of c that every graph of n vertices with minimum degree (at least) cn, 1/2<c<1, then the graph must contain some large book B_b(c)n and the maximum b(c) is determined for these values of c. In this paper we deal with this function b(c) for all values of c and present a conjecture which is based on product representations of rational numbers. If the conjecture is true then the function b(c) is very strange, monotone increasing but it jumps at every rational number.

 

报告人简介:

   Ervin Győri, 现为匈牙利科学院教授,匈牙利科学院Rényi数学研究所副所长,曾获匈牙利科学院奖。Győri教授主要从事极值图论方面的研究,与国际著名学者Erdős、Turán以及Lovász(前国际数学联盟主席)等都有过合作,在《Combinatorica》,《Journal of Combinatorial Theory, Series B》等图论方向顶级期刊上发表论文100余篇。
